Scorpions and insects are covered in a hardened outer shell that provides them with some protection against the elements. Due to the extremely large size of these creatures in the Exiled Lands, their chitin can be harvested and used to all manner of purposes. The harvesting is, of course, the difficult part. A man-sized scorpion is no laughing matter.
